Augustana University has secured a key addition to its future blue line, receiving a verbal commitment from Academy of Holy Angels defenseman Teddy Lechner.
Lechner, an ’08-born defenseman, is preparing for his junior season with the Stars and has already gained valuable junior experience. This fall, he earned brief stints in the USHL with both the U.S. National Team Development Program and the Muskegon Lumberjacks, showcasing the level of trust and interest he’s generating at higher levels.
Last season, Lechner posted 28 points in 24 games for Holy Angels — outstanding production from the blue line and a reflection of his skating, poise, and ability to drive offense. His blend of mobility, vision, and competitive edge has made him one of the most impactful young defensemen.
As he returns for the 2025–26 season, Lechner will be a central figure in Holy Angels’ push to earn a berth in the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament. With continued growth, more USHL experience, and his already impressive trajectory, Augustana is adding a defenseman with significant long-term upside.
