Sauren Saumweber has been named the MN Hockey Life Player of the Week after a dominant showing in the Bantam Elite League this past weekend. The 2010-born forward lit up the scoresheet with 10 points in 4 games while playing a complete 200-foot game for the Hurricanes.
Fresh off a strong performance at the Minnesota High Performance Summer Camp in June, Saumweber has continued to elevate his play in the BEL. He’s showcasing great strength on his skates, tight puck control, and a natural scoring touch, he’s a player trending sharply upward.
A Roseville native, Saumweber tallied 38 points in 59 games last season with Shattuck-St. Mary’s U14 team, and he’s carried that momentum. He’s proven to be a player who can contribute in all situations, thanks to his high compete level, strong hockey sense, and on-ice awareness. Notably, Saumweber is a mid-December birthday, making him one of the younger players in his age group, nearly a 2011, but he plays with the maturity and skill of someone far beyond his years.
With his combination of production, versatility, and age-relative upside, Sauren Saumweber is definitely one to watch this season.
