The future continues to look bright for the Minnesota Golden Gophers as they’ve secured a commitment from prospect Luca Jarvis. The Stillwater native becomes the latest in-state star to pledge to the University of Minnesota, bringing Pride on Ice back to Dinkytown.

Born in 2008, Jarvis is an elite offensive talent with game-breaking ability. He possesses explosive acceleration that allows him to create separation from defenders, paired with high-end vision and anticipation. His ability to read and break down defensive coverage stands out, and he consistently creates scoring chances for himself and his teammates. Perhaps the most dangerous weapon in his arsenal is his shot, a deceptive, fluid release with power that can beat goaltenders cleanly from distance, even beyond 40 feet.

Jarvis played two seasons at Stillwater High School and was a driving force behind the team’s run to the Class AA State Championship Game last season. He recorded 48 points (24 goals, 24 assists) in 30 games for the Ponies before finishing the year with the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL, where he tallied two assists in five games during his first taste of junior hockey.

A standout on the national stage, Jarvis represented the Minnesota District at USA Hockey’s National Camps, earning invites to both the 16U and 17U Select programs. This summer, he recorded seven points in six games at the Boys 17 National Camp, once again showcasing his high-end ability against the country’s top talent.

Big congratulations to Jarvis and the Gophers coaching staff on the commitment. This one is going to be fun to watch.
