Duluth native Kaenan Smith has been named the MN Hockey Life Player of the Week following a standout showing at the USA Hockey Boys National 17 Camp. The talented goaltender turned heads by allowing just three goals on 67 shots, leading all netminders at the event with an impressive 1.00 goals-against average (GAA) and a .955 save percentage (SV%).
The 6’2″, 200-pound netminder is coming off a strong season with the Sioux Falls Power U16 team, while also seeing game action with the NTDP U17 Team. Prior to that, Smith backstopped Duluth Marshall as a freshman in 2023–24, posting a 2.15 GAA and .934 SV%, demonstrating poise and consistency beyond his years.
Smith blends size, athleticism, and sharp reflexes, making him a formidable presence in the crease. He tracks the puck exceptionally well, challenges shooters confidently, and maintains strong rebound control.
