The Gophers continues to stockpile talent as they received a commitment from defenseman Brady Yakesh. The Benilde St. Margaret’s standout is the third commitment the Gophers have received this month, as highly touted prospects Oliver Moore and Logan Cooley decided their future would be in the marron and gold as well.
Yakesh is a dynamic defender who has put up 10 goals, 30 assists, for 40 pints in 25 games this season. Yakesh has 89 points in 86 games over the course of 4 seasons for the Red Knights.
Benilde will be a team to watch in the Section 2AA playoffs as they make a push for their first Minnesota State Tournament appearance since 2012. They key to their success will come from Yakesh and defensive partner Tristan Sarsland, who make up arguably the best blueline duo in the state.
Yakesh is expected to play at least one season of junior hockey before joining the Gophers.
