Delano standout Daniel Halonen has announced his commitment to Michigan Tech, giving the Huskies a proven goal scorer and power forward out of the Minnesota High School ranks.
Halonen has been a driving force for the Tigers this season, piling up 34 goals and 24 assists for 58 points in just 23 games. His offensive production has consistently fueled Delano’s attack, and his presence has been felt in all situations.
A forward who plays with a strong blend of skill and power, Halonen is difficult to contain once he gets moving. He protects the puck well, attacks through contact, and thrives in high-traffic areas. Around the net, he uses his frame and determination to create second chances and finish plays, while also showing the hands and vision to make plays off the rush or in tight spaces.
Over the course of his high school career, the Delano captain has totaled 115 points in 76 games across three seasons, establishing himself as one of the key offensive drivers in the program. His consistency, competitiveness, and leadership have made him a central figure for the Tigers. Now, Halonen will look to cap his high school career by helping power Delano back to the state tournament for the first time since 2021.
His commitment adds another Minnesota-developed forward to the Huskies’ pipeline, one who brings a combination of scoring touch, physical play, and leadership qualities.
