Here’s a look at some of the top storylines that emerged during Minnesota High School Hockey’s opening weekend.
Sartell put themselves on the map with a big 7–3 win over Rock Ridge, outshooting them 36–17 and capitalizing on their chances. Devin Jacobs and Preston Deragisch led the way with three points apiece, two terrific players who look primed for big seasons.
Delano went on the road and knocked off both Warroad and East Grand Forks, firmly establishing themselves as a top-tier contender in Class A.

Tyden Bergeson put up 7 points this week against two strong opponents in Wayzata and Edina. He’s a clear Mr. Hockey Candidate.
Hibbing took down Cretin and made their message clear: Class A runs through them. Class A Guy has them sitting at No. 1….. and after that win, the hype train is officially full steam ahead.
St. Michael–Albertville opened their season by sending a clear message as well, taking down Rogers 3–2 behind a brilliant 39-save performance from Lucas Ingebrigtson.
Tartan didn’t stay down long. After a 12–0 loss to St. Thomas Academy, they flipped the script and beat Mora/Milaca 13–1.
Through Roseville’s 2–0–0 start, junior Grant Jakaboski has already piled up five goals, highlighted by a four-goal performance against South St. Paul.
Cole Braunshausen of St. Thomas Academy leads the state in scoring with 11 points after 2 games.
Junior Walker Andersen of New Prague is off to a hot start, scoring a hat trick on opening night against Mankato and adding two more in a tie with Lakeville North.
Prior Lake’s Gavin Lind has a 5-point night (3g, 2a) in a 6-5 win over Centennial
