Grand Rapids native Carter Casey has signed a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement with the Medicine Hat Tigers, the reigning WHL champions. The highly regarded goaltender will bring his talent north of the border for the 2025–26 season, joining a storied organization with high expectations.
At 6’2″, Casey combines size, athleticism, and poise in the crease. He split the 2024–25 season between Grand Rapids and the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL, delivering strong performances at both levels.
In 20 games with the Thunderhawks, Casey posted a 10-9-1 record, along with a 2.72 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. He then joined Waterloo late in the year and immediately made an impact, going 3-0-0 in the regular season with a 2.08 GAA and .920 save percentage.
His postseason play for the Black Hawks was even more impressive. Casey was a key figure in their run to the Clark Cup Championship Series, posting a 10-3-2 playoff record with a 2.53 GAA and .918 save percentage, proving himself on the league’s biggest stage.
Known for his composure and ability to deliver in high-pressure situations, Casey has consistently stepped up when it matters most. He backstopped the Grand Rapids Bantam AA team to the State Tournament in 2023, then helped lead Grand Rapids High School to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament in 2024. This past spring, he capped off an incredible year by anchoring Waterloo’s playoff run in the USHL.
With his track record of big-game performances and steady development, Carter Casey now turns the page to the next chapter of his hockey journey, joining one of the WHL’s top teams and continuing to prove he’s one of the premier goaltending prospects in North America.
