The Wenatchee Wild of the Western Hockey League (WHL) have officially signed 2007-born goaltender Cal Conway to a Scholarship & Development Agreement, adding one of Minnesota’s top netminders.
A native of Andover, Conway spent the 2024–25 season backstopping Stillwater High School, where he turned in a dominant campaign. He posted a 9-2 record, recorded four shutouts, and finished with an outstanding 1.43 goals-against average and .934 save percentage, helping the Ponies earn a trip to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament.
Long considered one of the premier goaltenders in the 2007 age group, Conway’s stock rose significantly following a stellar showing at the 2024 High Performance Final 54, where he was nearly unbeatable. His performance earned him a well-deserved invitation to the US Nation Camp last July, solidifying his status among the nation’s elite.
Conway isn’t just known for his technical skill as his mental toughness and composure under pressure are defining traits. He has a calm, focused demeanor in high-stakes situations and rarely gets rattled, even when facing sustained pressure. His quickness between the pipes and ability to read developing plays make him a difficult goaltender to beat.
With the move to Wenatchee, Conway now steps into one of junior hockey’s top developmental leagues, where he’ll have the opportunity to further refine his game against elite competition. The Wild are getting a goaltender with not just skill and potential, but the poise and drive to take his game to the next level.
