29 Minnesotans were selected in Phase 1 of the USHL Draft, with Nate Pederson being the first 2008 prospect selected by Lincoln in the first round. Lincoln continued their pursuit of Minnesotans, selected a league high of five over the course of the draft. With the 8 Minnesotans that made the NTDP 17 Program and the tender of Cole Bumgarner, a total of 38 Minnesotans have USHL representation after the Phase 1 Draft.
Congrats to all the players on being selected in the draft. To all the coaches, family members, and communities of these players, give yourself a pat on the back as a player himself cannot achieve this without you.
There were a plethora of talented 2008 Minnesotans not taken in Phase 1 and there are numerous reason on why. To these players, the talent gap is small, so keep the motivation and continue to prove the player you are.
