Freddie Schneider’s prospect stock continues to gain momentum as he was recently selected to take part in the CCM 68 Combine in Chicago, a camp for top 2009 DOB’s in North America. Freddie has earned the invite by demonstrating the ability to create scoring opportunities with consistency, even when given very little to work with. Freddie accomplishes this by having exceptional one-v-one skills and the keen ability to create separation. Schneider uses his quickness and acceleration to gain space and keeps the puck out of harms way of the defender with a long reach. His stickwork is strong and his reactions to opponents’ pressure is astute.
Freddie has proven in the past to be a top player in the 2009 age group, but he’s starting to show separation from the pack and now considered in the elite tier of the group. Freddie is not just showing us skills that make him good right now but the skillset that will continue to grow and project him to be a leader at the next level(s) that await him. Freddie is smart, with great anticipation of the play and he sees the ice well. This vision, matched with his excellent skating skills will take him a long way on his hockey journey.
This past season, Freddie was a key member of Edina’s Bantam AA Championship team, even scoring the game-winning -goal in the Championship game, a storybook ending to an exceptional season. Looking forward, Schneider will be logging a lot of ice this summer between participating in the forementioned CCM 68, skating with the 2009 Minnesota Blades, and playing in the Bantam Elite League (Although rosters have yet to be finalized for the BEL).
For scouts, recruiters, coaches, and hockey fans, Freddie Schneider is a must watch going forward.
