A look at news, notes, and scouting from the past week.
Eddie Auran of Two River High School (Henry Sibley) is off to a good start as the Warriors are 6-0-1 on the young season. The sophomore forward has adjusted well to the speed of the high school game after playing on West St. Paul’s Bantam AA State Tournament team last season. Auran has 7 points (6 goals, 1 assist) in 7 games played. Preston Gamer (also on the West St. Paul’s Bantam AA State Tournament team last season) has 6 points while senior Casey Ball has 14 points to lead the Warriors.
Goalie Carter Wishart of Chaska has committed to Colgate University. Wishart played last season with Chaska High School and decided to play in the NAHL with the Chippewa Steel This season. The 6’1, 175-pounder has been fantastic with the Steel, compiling a 7-3-1 record with 2.29 GAA and 924 SV%.
Forward Nick Pierre, who played at Hill-Murray and is a native of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, has committed to play college hockey at Merrimack. Pierre was previously committed to Wisconsin.
Check out my latest scouting reports on Neutral Zone: Just posted Holy Family vs. Shakopee. A lot of good 2007’s in this game, including Bryce Wiitala and Carson Steinhoff (and others).
These Minnesotans are setting a trend in AAA hockey:

2008 DOB Mikey Berchild leads Shattuck St. Mary’s U14 team in scoring with 44 points in 24 games. Berchild played on Minnetonka’s Bantam AA team last season.
