-Some random news stories and notes from Minnesota hockey prospects this week.

Ozzie Snodgrass of Minneapolis leads the Blue Army U-16’s fall team with 13 points in 18 games. Snodgrass put up 7 points as a sophomore, in limited toi, last season for Minneapolis (MN-HIGH). His cousin, John Snodgrass, was a standout at Eastview HS and played D1 for Colgate.

Noah Cates scored the game winning goal with 6:14 left in the game for the Flyers in Tuesday’s 3-2 win. The goal helped the Flyers open the season 3-0. It was his first of the season and he now has 10 points in 19 Career NHL games. The Flyers have four Minnesotans on their roster: Nick Seeler, Justin Braun, and Jackson & Noah.

Michael Berchild of Excelsior/Minnetonka leads Shattuck U14’s in scoring with 36 points (19 goals, 17 assists) in 17 games. Parker Trottier of Edina is second in the team with 33 points. Shattuck is 15-2 with their losses coming to the MN High Performance Lakers and Edina Bantam AA, the latter being Trottier’s former team.

-It appears that Chaska forward Sam Spehar will be playing for the Sioux Falls Power U16 team this season. Speahar had 7 goals and 13 assists in 28 games last season as a freshman. This is a huge get for the Power as Spehar looked exceptional this fall for the MN Blade 15O team. The talented forward has added a gear in his skating making him more elusive and is also stronger on the puck.
