Michael Berchild has as shown great development over the past nine months as he’s established himself as a top 2008 in Minnesota in the process. Very shifty and creative with the puck, Berchild has great one-on-one skills that he uses to slip past the defense and generate scoring opportunities. Berchild is so valuable as his puck carrying abilities and slick movements allow him and his team to gain zones and setup offensively.
Throughout the course of a game you can see that defenders give Berchild a bit more space in fear of getting burned, Berchild gets good reads on this as he takes the extra space and uses the time created to find teammates or back them far enough into the d-zone to rip a high quality shot.
Berchild was the 2nd leading scorer at the Triple Crown Tourney in Nashville with 13 goals and 7 assists in 8 games and was a standout this spring playing for the Select Development Program (SDP) in the United States Elite League.
Berchild will attend the U14 High Performance Summer Camp in St. Cloud and will play in the Bantam Elite League (Major) later this summer. With continued development Berchild should get consideration from NTDP and the USHL.
