It’s been a busy week for the University of St. Thomas as they’ve added Minnesota natives Grant Docter and Mack Byers from the portal and received a commitment from Casy Laylin of the Chicago Steel.

Docter comes to the Tommies via Michigan Tech, playing 6 games and registering 1 assist as a freshman. Docter was a star at Minnetonka High School, playing four years and captaining the team his senior season. Grant played in the USHL and the NAHL before playing at Michigan Tech. The addition brings a two-way, puck moving defenseman to the UST Blueline.

Mack Byers was another snipe off of the college hockey portal has he comes to the Tommies via Northern Michigan. Byers, from Long Lake, played two seasons for the Wildcats, scoring five goals and three assists in 36 games. Casy Laylin was a huge score for the program as the Chicago Steel forward and Minnesota native was considered one of the top 2004 prospects left uncommitted. Laylin was an invite to the 2020 NTDP Evaluation Camp and has represented USA in international tournaments. Casy has put up a goal and five assists this season for a stacked Steel lineup.
