Stories from this week in Minnesota hockey and some nostalgic looks at the past.

MNhockeylife was in attendance at The St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex this past weekend to watch the NTDP U18 team play the St. Cloud Norsemen of the NAHL. Unfortunately, 2021 NHL Draft prospect Chaz Lucius did not play. Lucius could be a top ten pick next year. Here’s a clip.

Chaz in action from last season

Justin Janicke of Maple Grove has 4 point in 3 games so far for team USA. Janicke is also a sought-after prospect for the 2021 NHL Draft. His brother Trevor was selected by the Ducks in the 5th round in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Minnesota hockey great Corey Millen is the coach of the Norsemen. He is no stranger to the NHAL as he coached the Minnesota Wilderness to the Robinson Cup back in 2015.

The leading scorer for Millen that season was Darian Romanko who played at the University of Minnesota for four seasons. Romanako played in the ECHL last season.

Bill Guerin has been busy so far with the trades of Dubnyk and Donato. I would have liked to see Donato get more ice time with the Wild, especially on the powerplay.

Here’s a classic Billy G fight

Outside The State of Hockey:

Tyler Boucher (Haddonfield, NJ) is off to a great start with NTDP U-18 with 5 points in 3 games. He’s seems to have added a great deal of strength to his game. His style reminds me a lot of Keith Tkachuk.
