Spencer Anderson has been named the MN Hockey Life Player of the Week following a landmark moment in his young career, being selected 1st overall by the Minnesota Mallards in the NAHL Futures Draft. The top pick was well-earned, as Anderson has shown consistent excellence and rapid development throughout the past year.
A 2009-born forward from Thief River Falls, Anderson put together an impressive sophomore season at the high school level, posting 27 points in just 21 games. Over his two-year career, he has already accumulated 59 points in 48 games. His skill and hockey IQ have earned him opportunities beyond the high school stage. Anderson was a standout at last summer’s High Performance Camp and proved his ability to hang with top talent in the fall, competing as one of the youngest players in the High School Elite League, where he notched 12 points in 19 games.
This already the third time Anderson has been drafted, in addition to his NAHL draft selection, Anderson was chosen in the 3rd round (31st overall) of the 2025 USHL Phase I Draft and went in the 2nd round (29th overall) to the Spokane Chiefs in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
Known for his aggressive yet composed style, Anderson blends skill, pace, and awareness—a dangerous combination that has scouts across leagues taking notice. With his talent and versatility, he’ll have no shortage of options as he maps out the next steps in his hockey journey.
