Brooks DeMars Signs with WHL’s Penticton Vees

Brooks DeMars, a rising 2009-born forward from Hugo has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Penticton Vees.

DeMars, a product of White Bear Lake Hockey Association, spent the 2024–25 season with the Long Island Gulls U15 program, The Captain of the Gulls thrived offensively, posting an impressive 69 points in 50 games. Demars also played up an age level with the U16 team, scoring 15 points in 15 games.

His breakout year came after spending the previous season with Hill-Murray’s JV team, making the cross-country move to Long Island to play with the Gulls. He now heads to the Westcoast to play in the WHL.

His success this season comes as no surprise to those familiar with his development. DeMars has been trending upward for some time and was a top performer at the 2024 High Performance Summer Camp in St. Cloud last June. His combination of skill, hockey sense, and competitiveness continues to separate him from many in his age group.

Earlier this month, Penticton acquired DeMars’ WHL rights from the Swift Current Broncos, signaling a clear belief in his skill and potential. He becomes the second Minnesotan to sign with the Vees this week, joining goaltender AJ Reyelts of Proctor, further strengthening Penticton’s pipeline of talent from the State of Hockey.

With high-end offensive ability and a proven track record of success at each step of his development, Brooks DeMars is a player to watch in the Western Hockey League in 2025-26, as he begins the next chapter of his journey.
