Always Golden: 9 Minnesotans Help U.S. Take Home Gold at the World Junior Championships

Congrats to the 9 Minnesotans that captured the Gold Medal at the World Junior Championships in Ottawa. The U.S. defeated Finland in overtime, 4-3, taking the hardware back to the states for the second consecutive year.

Brodie Ziemer led the Minnesota group in scoring with 7 points in 7 games While Danny Nelson had the most goals by a Minnesotan with 4. Hampton Slukynsky was 2-0 during the tournament, stopping 42 of 45 shots.

Oliver Moore and Danny Nelson are part of a rare group of players that have won two World Junior Gold Medals as they were both members of last year’s Championship team.
