The University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota will play a home-and-home series this weekend in a battle of the Twin Cities. The Tommies enter the matchup rested after being idle last weekend while the Gophers head in to this weekend riding high after a sweep of Minnesota Duluth, a series that saw the Gophers score 12 goals in the two games.
Last October the Gophers swept the series as Jimmy Snuggerud put on a show, scoring two goals, including the ot game winner in the first game, a 6-5 thriller. Jimmy followed up that performance by lighting the lamp two more times the following night in a Gophers 3-0 win.
The Gophers are currently 3-1-0 this season and ranked 5th in the country. Their lone blemish was a 2-1 ot loss to Omaha on October 12th. Connor Kurth (Elk River, MN) leads the Gophers in scoring with 8 points in 4 games played. The Tommies are 1-1-1 with defenseman Mason Poolman (East Grand Forks, MN) leading the team in scoring with 4 points.
