The University of St. Thomas named Lucas Wahlin Captain of the 2023-2024 Men’s Hockey Team. The sophomore forward out of Woodbury had a terrific freshman campaign, scoring 21 points in 26 games. His play helped St. Thomas improve from a 3-win team in year one of the Division I era to 11 wins in year two.
Whalin is the poster boy for hard work and determination as he grinded his way up from the NA3HL level in 2019-2020 to being named the captain of one of the top up and coming Division 1 college hockey programs in the country. The assistant captains for this season will be forwards Luke Manning (Stillwater) and Mack Byers (Long Lake/Holy family).
The Tommies begin their third season in St. Cloud vs. the Huskies on October 7th. UST was 0-2-0 against St. Cloud last season. Losing 3-1 on opening night last October in Mendota Heights and then dropping the second half of the home and home 4-0 in St. Cloud.
