Sam Spehar, one of the top 2007 in the country, has committed to Denver University.
After playing his freshman season (2021-22) for Chaska High School, Spehar took his game to the AAA level and played for the Sioux Falls Power U16 last year. For those of you that last watched Sam play with Chaska, you might not recognize him on the ice, as he’s progressed at a high rate, becoming a complete player and an absolute threat, that can beat the opposition with playmaking or finishing.
Sam has a very strong lower body, showing strength when carrying the puck through traffic and when digging in around the net and in the corners. His passing is elite, and he possesses such creative skills in the offensive zone.
Spehar was an NTDP Camp invite but did not make the squad which led to him being selected in the second round, 19th overall, in the 2023 USHL Phase 1 Draft by Muskegon.
Spehar is good right now and only getting better.
