Carson Scott, a 6-foot-3 defenseman from Dayton, Minnesota, has committed to the University of North Dakota, adding another high-upside blue liner to the program’s future core.
Currently skating for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program U17 Team, Scott has recorded 11 points in 46 games this season while adjusting to the pace and physical demands of elite national competition. His role at the NTDP has centered more on development and detail than raw production, and that foundation is showing. Before making the jump to the NTDP, Scott played for the Hill-Murray Pioneers, producing 12 points in 28 games as a defenseman against older high school competition.
A product of the Champlin Park Hockey Association, Scott checks several projection boxes that college and pro evaluators covet: prototype size, mobility, strength, and strong hockey intelligence. He skates well for a big defender, closes gaps efficiently, and processes the game with poise. With continued physical maturation and added assertiveness, Scott has the tools to grow into a reliable two-way presence at the collegiate level. North Dakota is landing a defenseman whose upside is still climbing.
