For the first time in over three decades, Rosemount High School is heading back to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament.
The Irish punched their ticket with a hard-earned 3–2 victory over St. Thomas Academy in the Section 3AA Championship, a tightly contested game where space was limited, scoring chances were scarce, and team defense from both sides dictated the tone.
In a game that demanded composure and execution, Connor Schubert delivered. Schubert scored twice for the Irish, playing the hero in a contest where every mistake felt magnified. With both teams committed to structure and layered defense, clean looks were hard to come by. But when opportunities appeared, Schubert capitalized, finding open ice, getting pucks off decisively, and finishing with confidence.
It wasn’t a track meet. It was controlled, disciplined playoff hockey. Rosemount defended in layers, managed the puck responsibly, and trusted its structure. When St. Thomas Academy pressed, the Irish stayed compact and composed. When momentum threatened to swing, they answered.
And when the final horn sounded, history followed.
Rosemount is state bound, for the first time since 1992, and they earned every inch of it.
