Eden Prairie enters the 2025-26 season with a new identity, as the team’s top eight scorers from last year have graduated. With 84% of the scoring production gone, the Eagles will rely on a wave of new talent and fresh leadership under first-year head coach Lincoln Nguyen.

One of the most talked-about offseason developments in Minnesota High School Hockey was the return of blue-chip prospect RJ Thompson, who comes back to the state after a stint with Little Caesars. The 2010-born forward, who was selected second overall in the 2025 WHL U.S. Draft, will immediately inject elite skill into the lineup and is expected to be a key offensive catalyst, though expectations should be tempered as he adjusts to high school play as a freshman.

Christian Lee returns up front for the Eagles and should thrive in an expanded role after a strong off-season making the USA16’s National Camp. Cole Pitzel adds size and experience, while a promising group of Bantams and experienced vets will compete for minutes.

On the back end, the Eagles will be anchored by senior captain Cameron Rice, their lone returning All-Conference selection. Rice’s calm presence, sound decision-making, and ability to log heavy minutes will be essential to the team’s structure.

Between the pipes, Bennett Wilmer finishing last season on a tear with four shutouts in his final seven games, including two against Minnetonka. Wilmer is great when he’s on and confident, as he showed last February.

With top-end talent in Wilmer, Rice, Lee, Thompson, and Pitzel, Eden Prairie has the pieces to surprise opponents and could make a run if their young supporting cast finds rhythm early.
