Easton Johnson has announced his verbal commitment to play college hockey at the University of Michigan, joining one of the nation’s most prestigious programs.
Johnson has spent the past three seasons developing his game with the Sioux Falls Power, where he’s established himself as a dependable two-way defenseman with strong offensive instincts. Known for his composure and decision-making, Johnson plays a responsible game built around smart reads, efficient puck movement, and the ability to transition quickly from defense to offense.
Back in March, Johnson was one of 11 Minnesota prospects invited to the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP) evaluation camp, and one of just six to earn a spot on the team. His blend of skill, maturity, and hockey IQ has made him one of the top 2009-born players to come out of Minnesota.
The University of Michigan has landed a well-rounded blueliner with a high ceiling, Johnson’s commitment further reinforces the program’s continued success in recruiting elite players.
