Maddux Domagala: From Small Town Star to Statewide Threat

Maddux Domagala had a sensational junior campaign for Luverne, racking up 35 goals and 40 assists in just 30 games. His offensive firepower played a key role in leading the Cardinals to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, and he’s now drawing attention across the state as one of the top returners for the 2025 season.

With 75 points, Domagala is the highest-scoring player eligible to return next season, raising a big question—can he lead the state in scoring? And more importantly, will he become a serious Mr. Hockey candidate?

There’s no doubt he has the skill to make that leap. Domagala is a swift skater with good balance, and his soft hands allow him to maneuver through traffic with ease. He’s consistently involved in all three zones, showing he’s more than just a point producer.

Critics will point out that 15 of his points came against Windom and that Luverne’s schedule isn’t the most demanding in the state. Those factors might make it tough to sway Mr. Hockey voters. However, if Domagala continues to dominate and raises his level against tougher competition, he’ll be hard to ignore when the accolades are handed out. This will be one of many storylines heading into next season.

His junior year was a statement. Now, all eyes are on what Maddux does next.
