Stillwater’s Brody Dustin’s All-Around Dominance Drives Stillwater to Quarterfinal Victory

Stillwater delivered a dominant 5-0 victory over Andover in Class AA Quarterfinal action at the 2025 Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament, and a key factor in the win was the outstanding play of Brody Dustin.

Of course, this game was a complete team effort, but Brody was next level. Dustin’s style of play is a coach’s dream—gritty, smart, and relentless. Brody does much of his damage along the boards and in the slot, he consistently absorbs hits and uses his strength to power through defenders.

His versatility is a standout feature, as he is equally effective with both his forehand and backhand. Dustin’s first goal of the game was a perfect example of his ability to make plays in tight spaces. After scooping up a rebound, he calmly backhanded the puck past the Andover goalie, putting the Ponies up 1-0.

However, it’s not just Dustin’s raw power that makes him effective, it’s his hockey IQ. In the second period, he recognized that Andover was anticipating his trademark power drives to the net, leaving him with extra space. Rather than charging into traffic, Dustin used that space wisely, displaying excellent vision as he set up his teammates. On Stillwater’s fourth goal, Dustin slowed down the play, assessed the situation, and fed a perfect pass to Luke Myers, who buried the puck in the slot to put the game out of reach.

While Dustin may be underrated in some circles, he is far from overlooked by area scouts and media. His all-around play earned him a significant number of votes for the MN Hockey Life Player of the Year award, further solidifying his reputation as one of the top talents in the state.

With his combination of strength, vision, and unrelenting drive, Brody Dustin proved to be one of the most impactful players in Stillwater’s 5-0 victory.
