6 Things That Make Will Dosan Effective

Will Dosan is one of the top players in Minnesota High School Hockey. Here’s a look at six attributes that make the Princeton commit so dangerous for the St. Thomas Cadets.

The shoulder dip on the rush: Dosan dips his inside shoulder when making cuts to the slot area for scoring chances, he showcases his dominant strength and sharp edges when making this move to the slot. His large frame keeps the puck well out of the defenders reach while making his push for scoring chances.

Movement in the slot: Dosan keeps defenders on their toes without the puck as he moves around the goal area and slot, finding space and lanes for his teammates to find him.

Goalies beware of going down into the RVH (Reverse Vertical Horizontal) as Dosan is an expert at picking the smallest short-side corner to expose the RVH technique. His attempts at going short-side on the goalie also open up chances later to pass backdoor or attempt a wraparound. In a game against Eastview early this season Dosan attempted a short-side scoring chance and then later in the game froze the goalie short-side and then went around the net and tucked the puck in for the goal.

Twitch Movements: Dosan has a lot of effective moves in his arsenal, but perhaps his most effective is a slight twitch (hesitation/jerking movement) one way with an explosion in an alternative direction. He can do this on the rush or from a complete halt.

Compete Level: it doesn’t matter the score or situation, he’s a gamer that is giving it all, while showing a positive attitude in the process.

Development: Dosan continues to progress, showing something extra with every viewing. He went from being a nice player in bantams to an absolute force for St. Thomas Academy by working on his craft, making him one of the most dangerous players with the puck in high school hockey.
