The Turkey Trot was a prime example of the parity we will see all season. Maple Grove, Moorhead, Wayzata, and Edina all went 1-1.
Wayzata looks to be strong defensively again; led by Carson Clark, George Ericson, and Finn De St. Hubert…..and of course coached by Pat O’Leary.
Bennett Bergloff is playing for Cambridge-Isanti after a successful couple months with the Sioux Falls Power U15 team to start the hockey season. He had a goal in their win over Duluth Denfeld.
Henry Lechner has put up 9 points in his first 2 games of the season, giving the UST commit a nice start for a run at Mr. Hockey.
Holy Angels took care of business on their northern road trip, beating Bemidji and Roseau….and doing so without forward Cole Cheesman, who is recovering from an injury.
Top 2009 prospect Ryland Rooney is another player off to a hot start with 8 points in 3 games for Gentry.
Gentry is the first team to 3 wins. Well, to be fair, they are also the only team that’s played 3 games.
Forest Lake might be better than expected. They are 0-2 but played very well in games against Grand Rapids and Rock Ridge, dropping both on the road by just a goal.
A nice start for Rogers, beating Andover 2-1 and Shakopee 5-2. Are they the consensus number 1 early on?
It appears Cal Conway might not play for Stillwater (eligibility issues?).
Like all seasons, young defensemen are going to struggle early in the season.
I was told by a scout to keep close tabs on Drew Lindquist of Spring Lake Park/Coon Rapids…..He didn’t disappoint in his first game, delivering a hatty against Hopkins.
Warroad and St. Cloud Cathedral battled to a 2-2 tie on Saturday…..Maybe a early look at the State Class A Championship Game? They are ranked 1-2 by Class A Guy.
Remember that the games and teams in December are a lot different than the ones you will watch in February/March.
