A look at some of the major news for Thursday nights action.
-Cooper Siegert picked up where he left off last season by scoring two goals in Shakopee’s first game. Both goals were on the same shift (21 seconds apart) and both scored off a rebound. Siegert had 29 goals last season. Shakopee beat Eagan 6-0.
-Shakopee started Owen Lunneborg in nets, his first Minnesota High School Hockey game. Owen earned the shutout win but was not tested to any extent during the contest.
-Tristin Wassengeso made a good first impression with his new team, as he was one of the top forwards for Shakopee, he played last year for the Sioux Falls Power U16’s and was at Chaska in 2022-23.
-The Vancouver Canucks had representation at the Shakopee/Eagan game on Thursday night.
-Defenseman Blake Prouty of Eagan was a standout all night long. The senior captain blocked shots, got his stick in lanes, and gained zones consistently.
-A tank clearing the ice in Shakopee. Marvelous!
-Defenseman Luke Christopherson scored 2 goals in his first varsity game for Two Rivers. Both were sniper wrist-shots. The 2009 DOB played bantams for West St. Paul and also skated with the Blades. Two Rivers tied Minneapolis 5-5.
-Gentry Freshman Jaxon Cook delivered 2 points (goal, assist) in his first varsity game, a 5-2 win over Roseville. Cook is a 2010 DOB.
-Roseville defenseman Collin Hites scored both goals for the Raiders.
-Nice Start to the season for Bemidji, beating Alexandria 6-1, Noah Mannausau had 2 goals while Tate Metcalf made 23 saves.
-Tommy Dittrich scored twice and Jack Oleson registered 3 points as Woodbury skated past Irondale 6-0.
-Andover goalie Cash Cruitt stopped 30 Rogers shots in a 2-1 loss.
-Grady Dimberio registered 3 points and Colton Bialke scored 2 goals as Rock Ridge beat Brainerd 7-3.
