Centennial Bantam AA defenseman Jacob Homicke is a player that has been making huge strides over the past year, making him an intriguing 2010 DOB prospect to watch going forward.
An aspect of Jacob’s game that sticks out is his decision making, as he’s quick to process the play and select the best option for success. He’s a smart player that knows how to create space and find open ice for himself and teammates.
During recent viewings his stickwork has been clean and precise. The Centennial Captain has demonstrated a good first stride that he uses to beat opponents and also to escape trouble. Jake has shown the ability and willingness to rush the puck up ice, while being responsible in the process.
In the Centennial Preview Showcase he stood out for the host team, finishing the weekend with 4 goals and 3 assists over 4 games played. The 7 points were tied for 2nd most among all participating skaters. Jacob was able to achieve this success by using great puck control, gaining the middle of the ice and funneling pucks to the net.
Overall, Homicke is a fluid skater that possesses a high hockey IQ and should continue with a nice progression trajectory with extra size and strength.
