Defenseman Jake Toll of Rosemount committed to the University of Minnesota Duluth this week. This is a great addition for the Bulldogs as Toll has a good combination of skill and size (6’3, 175). Toll is a head on a swivel guy, with a great stick and excels at 1v1 in the defensive zone.

Forward Harper Searles of Centennial had his USHL rights traded from Chicago to Madison. Harper had 20 goals and 47 assists last season for the Cougars. It hasn’t been reported if Searles will return to high school for his senior season or play with Madison. If he does return to high school, the two-time team captain would be on the short list for Minnesota Mr. Hockey.

One to keep an eye on is 2009 DOB Marcus Matyas of White Bear Lake. The creative forward had a good season as a first-year bantam with the Bears and earned an invite to the High Performance 14’s Summer Camp next month. Marcus has displayed great vision and the ability to create scoring opportunities when given very little.

The 2009 Minnesota Blades and 2009 Minnesota Lakers are competing in the Kings of Spring Nashville today through Monday, May 29th. The tournament is part of the AAA Super Series. I included the rosters of the two squads below.
