Jimmy Snuggerud Scouting Report

U.S. National Team Development Coach Adam Nightingale credited Jimmy Snuggerud as being one of the most improved players in the NTDP program and his draft stock is a testament to that. NHL Central scouting had Jimmy ranked as a “B Player to Watch” in their initial 2022 NHL Draft rankings back in October of 2021 and now have him ranked 11th among (NA Skaters).  The biggest improvements to Jimmy’s game over the past two years have been his skating and hockey IQ.

Snuggerud has great awareness on the ice and makes his linemates better by creating time and stretching the ice. Jimmy is a puck control player as he excels at this aspect of the game, he doesn’t scramble with the puck, instead feels it out and executes the most beneficial play available. His passing is clean and crisp and he leads his man with the delivery.

Snuggerud has an absolute bomb of a shot that he can release without getting set and with many different looks. Jimmy’s shot is very accurate, and he can do so without looking at the net. Jimmy is a natural goal scorer and his abilities in this department will translate well at the NHL level.

Jimmy also has some power to his game as he’s demonstrated that he can drive to the net with contact and can mussel his way to win loose puck battles. Jimmy’s a lunch pail player with skill. During viewings Jimmy has showed his consistency on a night to night basis. When he is held of the scoresheet, he’s contributing by playing pressuring defense, gaining zones, and showing good hustle.

Snuggerud is all around solid player that will give the franchise that selects him a top-six forward that plays good defense. With his shot and hockey sense Jimmy could put up some nice points totals in the NHL and give good draft value 15 picks into the draft.
