A look at Minnesota Hockey stories from the past weekend.
-The Winnipeg Jets signed Dom Toninato and Derek Forbort on Sunday. Both are products of Duluth East. Toninato, who was a captain for Duluth East High and UMD, is a veteran of 85 NHL games. Forbort, a former 1st round pick of the L.A. Kings has played 275 games in the league.
-The Wild found their new netminder on Friday when they signed Cam Talbot to a 3-year, $11 million contract. Bill Guerin announced that Talbot will be the team’s number one goalie to open the year.
-Talbot was 12-10-1 with a 2.63 GAA and .919 SV%. He played even better in the playoffs with a 5-4 record, 2.42 GAA and .924 SV%.
-In 25 career playoff games Talbot has a 2.46 GAA and .923 SV%.
-Talbot has a plethora of nicknames, most notable are T-Bot, CamBot and Goalbuster.
-Talbot has been teammates with Mats Zuccarello in the past. They spent time in the minors with the Connecticut Whale and in the NHL with the New York Rangers.
-Tyler Pitlick received a 2-year, $3.5 million contact from the Arizona Coyotes. Pitlick (Centennial HS) has 73 points in 248 games.
-Joey Anderson was Traded from the New Jersey Devils to the Toronto Maple Leafs this past weekend for Andreas Johnsson. The Roseville (Hill-Murray HS) native has put up 8 goals, 5 assists for 13 points in 52 NHL games.
-The Maple Leafs also signed former Hopkins star Travis Boyd.
